I’ve been listening to Sparks since the cassette days, and Indiscreet was the turning point that made me realize they weren’t just a “weird pop band” but a real artist. If this reissue is done well, it could help the younger generation see the true artistic value of the 70s – a time when Sparks tested the limits of rock. Incredibox |

My bundle - less the Indiscreet PD - arrived yesterday. As I think it's already been pointed out on another thread, there's nothing new here for oldie fans, but newbies will maybe enjoy the fresh products. The cd sleeve notes by Simon Price are very decent though, and there are some useful nuggets - I didn't know (or had forgotten) that Mary Hopkin appeared on The Wedding of Jacqueline Kennedy ...
Interesting to note that in the Indiscreet back cover tracklisting Tits appears in its unexpurgated glory - after 50 years!
Couple of negatives - there are a few loud pops towards the end of side one my copy of the Indiscreet vinyl; more pertinently for others, perhaps, Demon have produced Big Beat using the same master as the last cd reissue, which means Throw Her Away gets the sudden ending it really shouldn't have. |
